My Crochet Wardrobe- Book Review

I was over the moon to be asked to take part in the virtual 'book tour' to celebrate the release of My Crochet Wardrobe by Cassie Ward. I've followed Cassie @themissingyarn on Instagram for a while and am a big fan of her designs. If you're a regular reader of UK crochet mags you'll be familiar with her beautiful work. Cassie's designs are easily recognisable; classic and wearable but with a modern fun twist. I love her use of texture and colour to make simple but unique and on-trend garments. My Crochet Wardrobe includes 15 garment designs using a variety of different techniques. Great for beginners and also more experienced crocheters, there's a pattern for all tastes and skill levels. I opted to make the Josie top first. I love the boxy style and lace panel detail. I thought this would be a lovely light top for Spring using a cotton blend yarn. I used King Cole Finesse DK (click here for my yarn review blog post) but you could use any dk y

DIY Faux Fur Pom-Poms

The lovely team at Darn Good Yarn reached out to me recently and asked if I'd like to try one of their DIY Pom Pom kits . I was intrigued as I absolutely love the look of these faux fur poms but have never tried making one myself. DGY are well known for their beautiful recycled yarns but they also do really a nice range of kits and patterns too. The DIY pom pom kit contains everything you need to make 2 faux fur poms poms including step by step instructions, 2 faux fur circles, spheres for stuffing, snap fasteners and even needles and thread for sewing. The only thing you'll need is scissors to snip your thread and a cute hat to attach your pom poms to! I used my pom poms to decorate my Candy Heart Hats , find this simple knitted beanie pattern here . I already have a request from my little boy to make a special new hat just for him as he loves these fluffy pom poms so much! The pom poms are super soft and really quick and easy to make. I loved the fact the

Corner to Corner Ombre Blanket

When I first got my hands on the new  Paradise Beaches DK range from King Cole I knew I had to make a blanket! The dk acrylic blend is available in 8 solid colours in a beautiful pastel rainbow colour palette. The acrylic polyamide blend is soft, washable and perfect for garments and accessories. The new sorbet colours compliment the variegated pastel shades within the Beaches range really nicely. Click  here for more info on the range and to see all the available colours. I was immediately drawn to the pink and yellow shades and thought a corner to corner project would be great to show of the gorgeous colours with a gradient effect. Corner to corner or c2c crochet is a really simple but addictive pattern using treble (US double ) crochet stitches. Its perfect for blankets as it works up so quickly (and can be really hard to put down!) If you're new to c2c I'd recommend  this really clear video tutorial by the fabulous Bella Coco Crochet.  I made a sim

Easter Bunny Eggs- Free Crochet Pattern

These cute little bunnies are quick, fun to make and are a great way of using up your yarn scraps. Make them with or without the hanging loops to make your perfect Easter decoration. I originally designed these for Simply Crochet magazine last year using 2 contrasting strands of cotton 4 ply yarn held together. Pictured above is Stylecraft Classique Cotton 4ply (100% cotton 50g/182m)1 ball of each in Sky blue (3667), Fondant (3094), Soft lime (3663), Lavender (3673) and Sunflower (3662) You can also use 1 strand of dk yarn instead or go chunkier with a larger hook to make a bigger egg. I recently made some using  King Cole Stripe DK in pink. I really like the way the colour changes work up differently in each egg. Have fun using different yarn weights and hook sizes to create your own unique decoration. You will need: Any dk weight yarn or 2 strands of 4-ply held together. 2.5mm crochet hook Stitch marker Polyester toy stuffing Tension Tension is not
